You know how it is, dear readers. Some days you need that one easy piece, the one that hangs faithfully in your closet, just waiting for you to pluck it – sometimes out of desperation – off the hanger and sigh with relief because it’s just so easy to wear. And that’s what I think this week’s Buy of the Week’s pieces will become for you! First off, I want to say a big thank you to the DC area Ann Taylor LOFT stores for their enthusiastic participation in “Out with the old, Save on the new,” a donation promotion that’s bringing in tons of amazing women’s pants to Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Stores. Awesome! I their honor, I’ve chosen two brand-new-with-tags Ann Taylor skirts for you this week.
First up is a great black mini skirt with white polka-dot pattern, black button detail and – drum roll, please – pockets. It’s a size 4P, is fully lined and runs true to size. I think this would look fantastic with a white button down and a vest, maybe with some boots and tights? Yeah, definitely. Here I’ve paired it with a very gently worn Tse cashmere camel colored turtleneck in a size Medium.
In real life, I’m not sure you’d wear these items together, because the turtleneck has more a of a tunic style to it (I’ve tucked it in for this picture), but I really like the idea of a turtleneck with this skirt. And camel and black is always a sophisticated color combination, a la Chanel’s classic cap-toe double-C flats. Look for both of these items later today on ShopGoodwill.com…of course. And if you’re reading this on Tuesday morning, there’s still a bit of time left on last week’s items, too!
Next up is another fabulous Ann Taylor skirt/cashmere sweater combo (see what I did there?), this time with a White + Warren animal-print v-neck with 3/4-length bell sleeves. White + Warren makes such soft, luxurious cashmere and this sweater is no exception. It’s been very gently worn, probably retailed for over $200 originally and would look stunning with some chic Bottega Veneta sunglasses.
The skirt here is a textured black pencil skirt with black button detail. It’s also a size 4P, but seems to be cut about a half-size bigger than the skirt above. It’s also quite a bit longer and will hit near the knee, even on gals who aren’t petite. It’s fully lined, new with tags, etc., etc. Everything you want in your go-to, one easy piece black skirt.
Phew! If it feels like I’m flying a mile a minute today, dear readers, it’s because I am. In almost exactly 24 hours, the DCGF is flying to Las Vegas to be a speaker at The 2nd Annual Social Media for Communicators conference. And it’s my first time in Sin City!
I’m very excited both for the conference and – of course – for the shopping opportunities. Or, I should say, window shopping opportunities. Did I mention the boutiques in my hotel are Chanel and Hermes? I’ll be sure to stock up. Ha.
